Babs Asper Professorship in Jazz Performance
In 2008, The Asper Foundation donated $1 million to establish the Babs Asper Professorship in Jazz Performance in the Marcel A. Desautels Faculty of Music. This support enabled the University of Manitoba to become one of the first universities in Canada to offer a Bachelor of Jazz Studies degree. It is the first endowed Music Professorship in the history of the University of Manitoba that bears Babs Asper’s name. University of Manitoba Faculty of Music assistant professor and jazz trumpeter Jonathan Challoner presently holds this position. For more information, please see here.
