June 19, 2018 – David and Ruth Asper received a Jewish Child and Family Service Mitzvah Award in Winnipeg. Al Benarroch, Executive Director of JCFS commented, “David and Ruth’s steadfast support of JCFS in broad-sweeping ways, as well as with practical gifts like these which allow access to sporting events, have touched the lives of those less fortunate in ways that cannot be described. We are forever grateful and thankful of Ruth and David’s philanthropy and generosity.”

Moe Levy, Executive Director of The Asper Foundation, accepted a 2018 Mitzvah Award on behalf of David and Ruth Asper at JCFS’s Annual General Meeting.  JCFS established the concept of its annual Mitzvah Awards (presented at each JCFS Annual General Meeting) so that it could acknowledge individuals and organizations that go above and beyond in supporting JCFS with their gifts of time and services.  It is through these charitable acts and gifts that JCFS is able to even further achieve its mission of strengthening lives in keeping with Jewish values.  At its 2018 Annual General Meeting,  JCFS acknowledged and honoured some organizations and individuals who donate tickets on a regular basis to community events and programs, thereby providing enriching access to activities for JCFS clients that would typically be far outside of their reach.
